Dead air / pregnant pause(2012) 1 min excerpt from 2 min 26 secs
Filmed during a live performance at the opening of Common Ground exhibition at Latymer Studios this work is comprised of the moments in between the recited script where the actress stumbles, hesitates and stutters. The title is a reference to the two modes of interruption: first occurring in public broadcasting as a result of human or technical error (accidental), second a theatrical term often written into the script that by means of silence puts emphasis on what has just been said.
